Vera Rubin Observatory has already found thousands of new asteroids

The brand-new Vera Rubin Observatory is already making waves in astronomy—before it's even fully operational. During a brief 10-hour test run, its ultra-sensitive camera spotted over 2,000 previously unknown asteroids, some of which are "near-Earth" objects that’ll swing relatively close to our planet.
